Jane is Apprentice of the Year
Jane Forsyth has been named Apprentice of the Year at Rok’s annual awards.
Beating off nearly 160 colleagues to take top prize at the Scottish Apprentice Awards, Jane (24), a Plumbing, Heating and Electrical (PHE) apprentice, picked up the accolade for her enthusiasm and dedication to her chosen career. She also received her certificate as a fully qualified time-served plumber, having completed the four-year training programme with flying colours.
Among the famous former apprentices to send messages of support to Jane and her colleagues were Sir Tom Farmer, Jim McColl OBE and Gerard Eadie. The awards ceremony was attended by Rok’s CEO Garvis Snook and MD for Scotland Andy Mallice who presented Jane with a trophy and a cash prize.
Andy said: “Jane has been an exceptional apprentice. Her conscientiousness and application has won her a great deal of respect from her peers and she fully deserves the title of Apprentice of the Year. She is an ambassador both for the company and for women in her profession.
“Our apprentices are integral to the company’s growth and so we provide structured training to support them throughout their full apprenticeship, opportunities for personal development through our community initiatives and by opening up a career path to every level of the company.
Alongside Jane, seven other building and PHE Rok apprentices received awards for coming top of their individual year groups. Another 16 apprentices were recognised for their college achievements and 38 received their ‘time-served’ qualification certificates.
Twenty-four new apprentices were also welcomed into the company at the event, which was hosted by Dunfermline AFC’s Director of Football Jim Leishman MBE.
