A decade of improving local housing
Rok has won an extension to its framework agreement with Newlon Housing Trust.
The one-year extension marks the tenth year that Rok’s Hackney office will have worked with Newlon to maintain more than 1,500 homes in the borough.
The work has seen a dedicated team of Rok technicians install 1659 new windows, 3337 kitchen units, 227 bathrooms and 228 heating systems as well as numerous other tasks at a quarter of Newlon’s housing stock. Customer satisfaction with Rok’s work for Newlon is now 98%.
All the work, part of a Decent Homes programme, has been completed within required timescales and to budget without a single reportable accident. Rok has also cut the length of time taken in each property by around five days by using more directly employed technicians and increased efficiency.
The framework agreement is the longest currently operated by Rok, and is among the first of the Government’s PPC 2000 (Project Partnering Contract) agreements drawn up that is still running.
The framework is part of a tri-party agreement between Newlon, Rok and Frankham Consultancy Group, offering specialist design, building and engineering services.
Sam Bater, Quantity Surveyor at Rok who manages the Newlon framework, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have secured this one year extension to mark ten years of working with Newlon.
“In that time we have helped improve the homes of thousands of social housing tenants and we continue to assist Newlon make a real difference to people’s quality of life.
“The extension is also a great vote of confidence for the tri-party group, and will help us meet new challenges in the months to come.”
Among the latest framework projects is a major upgrade to communal areas at a number of Newlon properties at Hornsey Chambers in Clapton.
Bill Henderson, Housing Director at Newlon, said: “We have had a really fruitful relationship and this partnership has helped us achieve over 99% Decent Homes or Decent Homes Plus in our properties, and high customer satisfaction with the works.”
